Expedition Route from Irkutsk to Olkhon island:

Huzhir Village – Peschana Bay –Uzuri Weather Station – Khoboi Peak - Uzuri

Horses will be provided for the transportation of heavy equipment. You will also be able to go horse riding and, of course, take photos of the horses!

Cost of training session and expedition – 9700 Rubles(~ 265 euro).

The following is included in the cost: training session, transport Irkutsk – Khuzhir – Irkutsk, transportation of luggage during the expedition, transport Khuzhir– Peschanaya -Uzuri – Khuzhir, food and drink, banya.

We will spend two nights in chalets and camp wild during the rest of the hike. Food will be made for you on the camp fire and in the chalet kitchen of Nikita Bencharov.

We will travel light when moving around the island, carrying just cameras and anything else necessary for daily excursions. Distance per day; between 6 and 15 km.

At the end of the excursion we will decide together on a suitable time for a reunion meeting to view the photos and to get any last photography advice. Everyone involved will receive a certificate.

The best photos will be selected for the exhibition, 'Baikal Forever!, and placed on the 'Baikal Environmental Wave' website. Last year’s photos can be viewed at http://www.baikalwave.eu.org/ecotur/galery/photoexp07/phexp07.html

What to take:

• We can provide tents and sleeping bags free of charge; however, if you prefer to use your own, you are more than welcome.
• Bring a rucksack, a bowl, spoon and mug, suitable shoes and comfortable, sporty clothing which you can move around in i.e. nothing that rubs. Don't forget to also bring something to wear in the evenings, a change of underwear, a wind- and rain-proof jacket, and woolly socks. You may also want to bring a swimsuit and pair of shorts.
• We will supply first aid equipment; however please don’t forget to bring any necessary personal medication as it will not be obtainable on the excursion.
• We recommend that you get vaccinated against tick-borne Encephalitis. You will probably need to do this well in advance.

We trust that you will observe the rules and regulations of the expedition. For your own and everyone else's safety, we ask you not to try and leave the group on your own and forbid the use of alcohol and drugs during the course of the excursion.
